What’s the Beat? Drake and Contemporary Hip Hop

Ok, folks. I read a recent article on my old/current stomping grounds and I just had to respond. The piece really makes me wonder about the “Standard” perception of hiphop within the hiphop community. Maybe there just isn’t any unified “Standard” as I once thought because this piece seems more damaging than it should be. Check out my response and make sure to check out the original article first so you have some context as to what I’m talking about. Enjoy.

What’s the Beat? A Plead to Microsoft

Ok. I know sony just dropped the price on the PS3, but this doesn’t give Microsoft a pass to be stupid. So I’m pleading to Microsoft – Please don’t be stupid, learn from Sony’s mistakes. Check out the vid. Hope you enjoy.

What’s the Beat? Artist Performance Rights Controversy

Hi, yall. Back again with more entertainment/music business news. This time I’m doing a quick run-down of the controversy surrounding artists royalties (or lack thereof) and Performance rights. Check it out, hopefully it’ll spark some interest and attention to a very serious, hot topic issue in the entertainment world. Enjoy.

What’s the Beat? Inglourious Basterds Review (2009)

Ok. I’m actually skipping a few other recordings I’ve already done just to get this up ASAP. This film needs to be discussed and seen by everyone, even if just to see the bear jew. So I hope you enjoy my quick summary. Now go kill sum natzees.

What’s the Beat? Playstation Vs. Xbox 360 holiday ’09 Preview

What’s up, yall. Back again with some flamebait. A quick summary of the upcoming holiday gaming blitz between Sony and Microsoft. I know, I know. I didn’t include the wii because, well,I have zero interest in it and plus– they really don’t have much coming out. I may need to do an entire segment on the wii and it’s impact on gaming and pop culture, but for now it’s all about the PS3 and the 360. Enjoy!

What’s the Beat? X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) Review

Ok, I’ve had this ready for awhile and figured I’d throw it up today for all the people who don’t care about copyright (losers). Hope you enjoy the review more than I enjoyed watching it (ugh!) But at least I’m not alone in my opinion of this film.

Let me know what you think in the comments.
